Clotting Factor Replacement Therapy
- On-demand Treatment: KHS administers clotting factor concentrates (Factor VIII for Hemophilia A and Factor IX for Hemophilia B) during bleeding episodes to stop bleeding. This is the primary treatment for acute bleeds, particularly in joints, muscles, or after injuries.
- Prophylaxis: Regular factor replacement therapy is provided to patients with severe hemophilia to prevent spontaneous bleeds and minimize joint damage, significantly improving the quality of life.
Transfusion Services
- KHS operates a Life Line Blood Bank with a component separation unit. This facility provides Whole Human Blood, Packed Red Blood Cells (PRBC), fresh frozen plasma (FFP) and cryoprecipitate for all patients, ensuring that all patients have access to essential blood components for bleeding management.

- Joint and Muscle Bleed Management: Physiotherapy services are provided to manage and rehabilitate patients with joint or muscle bleeds, preventing long-term complications like joint damage (hemarthrosis).
- Psycho-Social Counseling: Counseling services are available for patients and their families to help them cope with the emotional and psychological aspects of living with a chronic bleeding disorder.
- Dental and Surgical Care: KHS ensures that patients undergoing dental procedures or surgeries receive proper factor coverage to prevent excessive bleeding. They have collaborated with local surgeons and dentists trained in handling patients with hemophilia.
Inpatient and Outpatient Care
- The KHS facility includes a dedicated inpatient ward and an outpatient clinic where patients can receive regular follow-ups, treatment for acute bleeds, and rehabilitation services under one roof.
- Day-care services are also available for minor procedures, including infusions and diagnostic evaluations.
Support for Rare Bleeding Disorders
In addition to hemophilia, KHS offers diagnostic and treatment services for patients with other rare bleeding disorders like von Willebrand disease, factor deficiencies, and platelet function disorders.
